GraveDiggerMax,

I was looking at the pics of Mr.Shark, and Mr.Johns scoops. Are they designed to bend at the handle joint somehow,or are they rigid.I am trying to design one from PVC,I'm a newby and have never seen your types of scoops up close.Thank You for your time.HH

Hello,

Do you know if Tony's is all metal or aluminum? I like the wire mesh for quick drain of wet/damp sand. It appears that Shark's may be aluminum? Any idea of weight of yours, Tony's and Shark's?

the sand and i just felt it would not hold up forever.

b u t it does really work good like that with the mesh end - a friend of mine beachcomber has one like that - little bigger, custom model...................i like it :) :)

i am gussing at the weight, but i would say around 6lbs on the S/S models, i think they are adviertiised around that weight

now the alum. ones are 2 to 3 lbs. lighter.............both mine are 7" dia...........alum. comes in just under 5lbs.............S/S one just over 8lbs.

b u t i dragem, so not toooooooo bad

S/S - heavey really works good in the ruff waves.....alum. ones gets toss around more... and sand exits the S/S models much faster than the alum. models.............slicker

Max: I'm not trying to start a "Forumn War"!, as you know from having own both machines -"again" hit low tide Sunday morning, 12 street, it was supposed to to hit hard with the big"M" machines. Just proves, if your coil ain't over it, you ain't going to find it....Fisher/Minelab watermachines rule

Thanks a lot for your response! Not sure if this still holds true, but back years ago when I lived in Virginia and frequented the beach, seems that the sand was a little coarser than it is down here. With the wire mesh scoop, I have the concern (you mentioned) of being able to put as much pressure on the back to get deep here. Seems a little harder and more "packed" than up there. My concern (other than "drainage" of the wet/damp sand if not in the water to use it to "assist") is dragging that much weight. Guess I am looking for the best of both worlds, which does not seem to exist! (Always liked to have my cake and eat it too!)

Max: a.k.a (Maximus the Surf God) I'm not trying to start a "forum" War here, as you know, from having own both machines before and now having both "again". I took the new CZ-20 out, I hit 12st on Sunday morning's low tide. It was supposed to be pounded by the big "M" machines. It just goes to prove that if you ain't over it, you ain't going to find it....
