Low signal at the end of each swing

New member
Dear Forum,

It has been a while since I last posted. I'm back!! I have an Excalibur 800 with modified coil. I wanted to know if anyone had experience with hearing a low signal at each extreme end when swinging the coil. I can eliminate this by turning down the threshold, however I will lose sensitivity/depth. I tried moving the cable coming from the coil as far away as possible (toward the main electronics), but have had limited success. Has anyone else encountered this?

Thanks,

Surfline

I have the Excal II and if I have the Sensitivity turned up too high I do get a false at the end of each swing.

Are you in discriminate or pinpoint? In the water or on the wet sand? I know running mine hot in disc, in the water, I will get false signals at the end of the swing....this is mainly due to tipping the coil up slightly at the end of the swing. I actually use this technique to reset the tone after an iron target by just lifting the coil OR tilting it up some, anywhere in the swing. I mostly use the excel in pinpoint and don't have the same problems running it hotter.

Cliff,

Good point about swinging the coil up. I am using it mainly on wet sand and in pinpoint mode (more sensitive). Once I get a hit, I switch to disc mode to see if it is iron or not. Maybe if I change my swing style, (which I should), and I will not hear this sound.

Thanks,

Better know as the GOLF swing. YOu are flipping your coil up and loosing GB. You get the same situation at the surf edge.
