The subforums that I visit here at FM seem to be a lot less busy than normal, even allowing for the normal summer slowdown. Maybe we should be encouraging the experienced detectorists to post more often.

I hate the demise of privacy that places like FB represent. Almost as much as I dislike having my posts deleted when they are within the rules.
I do have a dummy FB account that I access thru a VPN. But the orderly information structure on a forum is much better imo.

Face book is easy to post to. Pictures right from your phone no format or size problems. Lazy browsing from page to page with just a thumbs up to the finds "Liked" not getting deleted unless vulgar or mean to someone. Mobile devices rule. It's a changing world. I like it better here on the forums too but you post a great thing it gets seen by 650 over a week and 3 people manage a reply.

Fix the picture posting problems here and I'd post more.

This forum in particular has gotten really slow since the equinox can out. My guess is that most people have picked up a nox are are busy using and discussing that (although that forum is slower too)

Yes, I agree, the fouum is a great resourse more private and has more credibility of information but they need to create more ease of application and use to compete with the simplicity of the phone tech.
I;ve been disapointed at the number of new posts to the ctx fourm for some time yet there are a ton of Tube videos to watch which has compensated.

One other note about low use of the fourm.; How many times do we see the same questions by each new user of the machine? it would be simpler for questions of use to go straight to a video site with the word search in it and let the newbies search the past posts on the topic rather than the fourum be a place for the same over worked answers over and over. I limit my response on this to the main point being redundency of fourm topics. A better catagorized search system with better ease of use and results would make the site more usefull and interesting.

Well put Shovel. Redundancy doesn’t keep the attention of guys who have given the answer 152 times already. We are all looking for information which will enhance and advance our own skills and success in this hobby. Perhaps this section has run its course...but I’d like to think not. I’ll be using the CTX for as long as I can hunt, barring something coming along with better ID.

Redundancy may be why fewer "experienced" forum members are posting their finds. I very seldom post finds anymore. Its gets redundant posting Rosies, Barbers and Merc's and the occasional something else two, three or more times a week. HH jim tn

I've only been detecting for just over 4 years. Hundreds of hours on the beach. So from a "semi-experienced" member: I really appreciated the information given to me by CT Todd, Gravediggermax, Andy, and many others! You all have saved me mechanical/electrical problems (by posting about adding tape near the bottom tube to prevent it from chaffing the wires), to helping me gain knowledge of the CTX behavior under various conditions. So when I post something, I try to add something about the readings and conditions of the finds, and little about the location (wet sand, dry sand, in the surf, etc. Personally I like the duplication or redundancy from the more experienced folks, and I like reading questions from the less experienced. Many times this reminds me of things I should pay more attention to when hunting. Thanks to you all!! I hope the forum is around a long time! Having to reduce the size of every picture definitely makes it more difficult.

I'm glad to of been some help some how. I don't mind the questions being asked over again. We all start somewhere and that includes learning how to use the forum to search first instead of asking with a new post. But I really don't care about that. I just wouldn't answer if it was a annoying. HHunting Get out there
