low grunt or null

wich one do you think has less chance to mask a good signal?
and what could be the advantage of having a discriminated out area in the low grunt section when running combined audio?
i will receive my ctx next week :detecting: and i am trying to build some pattern on the xchange2
looks like an awsome machine, many options to look at

thanks for your opinions!

Lots of variables to state anything definitive..... but when I run in a modified Coin Program with Lo Trash or High Trash separation, I prefer to hear all the signals and let my ears sort out the good stuff. When I use Ferrous Coin separation, I get better results with some discrimination (most of the screen below ferrous 23), allowing the software to help unmask the goodies. JMHO HH Randy

Randy, if a good target is sitting in amongst nails that hit at 35 wont discriminating most of the screen below ferrous 23 be more likely to null out the close in target.

I like the open screen as well, and use Ferrous Coin Separation, FE two tone. I was working a nail infested area and got nearly constant low tone hits, but then hit a high tone and I was able to get the right angle on it, and it hit hard on 12 13. Thinking nickle I dug and it was a 1943 war nickle. Only 2-3 inches down and missed before, due to all the nails. Getting more time on the CTX and realizing all of the options and it can become a little fuzzy. Thanks for your response.
Great machine so far, I am enjoying hunting.

smack,,,, what the string for on your MD ???

Rejection doesn't keep a detector from detecting a target. It only shuts down the audio response from those targets that are set to reject. I've found that when using Ferrous Coin and a slow sweep, regardless of the amount of discrimination, coins sound off loud and clear, amongst the nails. You can either chose to hear those nails (accepted) or not hear them (rejected). JMHO HH Randy

On the Etrac and V3i I used a bungee to help hold the weight as I detected. So the first hunt I did with the CTX I wanted to have some place to attach the bungee. Thus the string. I started hunting that first day without using the bungee and now find that the balance is so good that I don't seem to need it with the CTX. I have just not taken it off yet, to busy detecting and I forget to remove it. :detecting:

I run a sling also even on the 3030,,,,, it is as light as a feather with it,,
