Found a Merc today. I hunted along a bluff in a wooded area of the local park. Using a Vaquero with stock coil I heard a faint signal underneath a fallen tree . It sounded sweet but disc'ed out a little past tab , so I was expecting a lead bullet . About four inches down on the side of the hole was a 1936 Merc. I had the machine set with minimum disc sens a little in the red and threshold at 1 o'clock. Those are my default settings in untrashy areas . Also found a real nice square nail and cork bottle .

nice. same settings i run on the vaq. there is this guy on the other forum that swears running sense at 6-7 is better for depth. in my small test bed i can hit deeper targets with sense on 10 or a bit higher and won't hit them on 6-7.

Finding mercury dimes always puts a smile on my face, nice going!

Thats a great find , and i know the square nails well jar looks old to do the seems go all the way to the top or is it machine made.

Very nice! Those mercury dimes are a nice looking coin, I'm still hoping to find one here in Canada.
