Love The Beach

Had an early dental appointment yesterday for a routine cleaning . They hygienist scratched around a little and the Periodontist took a look and pronounced what teeth I have left to be good.

Got home and the Weather Guesser was promising that the temps would get up some where between 65 and 70. I thought that I heard my Excal talking about a trip to the beach. So we headed there and got on the beach at 11am. Low tide was scheduled for 12:01.

After careful consideration I thought of a spot that I knew the ocean had washed all the soft sand away and there was a nice area of hard pack. So the Excal and I started looking to see what we could rescue.

Dug up a real nice mens wedding band. Initially could not tell if it was stainless steel or Tungsten. Knew it was not gold or silver.

Then I dug up a "Silver" colored ring that may or may not be silver. It has markings that do not mean anything to me. It does however ring up a solid 180 on the Sovereign Gt.

After digging up a few pieces of junk jewelry and the occasional dime to go along with the worthless zinc clumps I had a nice low Nickel tone. It didnt sound exactly like a nickel and it was not as bad as aluminum foil. So I took a scoop. Shook it gently and thought that looks like gold.

Stepped over to a tidal pool and washed the sand and shells out of the scoop. Had a gold colored chain with charm that was tied in one gigantic knot. It took me quite a few minutes to untangle it. Then I started searching for a hallmark. Finally locate one and it was very small. I thought that it was 10K. Later I looked again with the sun in the correct angle and found that I had a 25 inch long chain with pendant that was 14K. Magnifying class confirmed that it is 14K when I got home.

Tide returned to wash the area I was working so I hit the wet/dry sand dividing line and dug up $4.80 in clad. The wind came up and it was coming off a 55 degree ocean. I was not wearing a jacket so I had to leave.

The chain and pendant weigh 9.3 grams. Sure did make my Day.

George, nice to see finds from a hunter.LOL here we need a blow torch and a jack hammer. HH Ron

Any idea what the charm symbols are?
Have you figured out the 'silver' yet? Could it be Platinum? (I don't speak Sov).

I suspect that there is plenty to go around. The trick is finding it. The ocean is doing quite a bit of eroding of the beach that I hit and that is where I am finding the good stuff. They are supposed to start re-nourishment soon so i have to go get it before they cover everything up with three or four feet of sand.

KENTN The Sovereign and the Excal are essentially the same machine. I have a quality pair of headphones on the Sov so the tones that I get on it are much cleaner and clearer than they are on the cheap Junk headphones on the Excal. I have one of Ron's meters on my Sov and Silver gives a digital read out of 180. That is what the questionable ring does. Makes me want to believe that it is sterling. It will take an acid test to be certain. I do not have a test kit "Yet". There are some markings in the ring that do not make sense to me.

Great day George! What a great feeling / rush to see all that come up :clapping:! Nice weather too ... !
