I bought a Minelab SE over a month ago and been coming in the door with handfuls of change and some rings. Have been watching detecting shows and reading books. My wife asked me today when will the beach detector be here? huh? She says you can find more stuff in the water and it looks like others have beat you to the good stuff on land.......

Man, do I have a good wife, now off to order the Excaliber II 1000. ( I think I will wait until the house closes, selling ,my home)

I'd say she's a jewel and possibly working an angle fer yer loot. You see, she knows that if you find something that she likes, that it will be hers, LOL! Now, I'm not one to have my wife looting me, so here is how I resolved the issue (of course I married another pirate). I bought Gulf Huntress her own Excal 800 and sent her packing. If she wants loot, she is perfectly capable of findin' 'er own! Sounds cold? Perhaps? See here's the thing that works REAL well, lets say you go out and find this nice diamond ring that she likes and she finds a band, then you can just trade 'er fer it. That will get cha the bar, savvy?

You are right about that. See has been watching the treasure DVDs over my shoulder and she saw the guys hunting in the water pulling rings and how thier wives got the ring... Hey what ever woorks so I can guy another detector..... Bought my Explorer SE in April and going to buy another one SWEEET.... Course I am out using the other one all the time, at least 12 hours a week.

My wife is my best hunting partner. She really took to the hobby 2 years back and hasn't let up. She started as my digger, but I quickly learned that if I want to enjoy it myself, I better get a machine for her too.
In fact she pushes me more and more, I have to say no sometimes ( or limit the time out).
She's found some great finds that I've appropriated and vice versa. I guess thats what make it enjoyable for us.

My wife is even wiser. She sunbathes whilst I get battered by the surf and then when I'm truly kn****red and bring the good yellow stuff ashore she simply claims what she wants. I love her dearly !!!

This is great: When I bought my used xl500 I got lucky and found a few things. Then one day she walking in a parking lot of beach park and finds a beautiful wht gold 14K bracelet with 5 diamonds graduating in size from small to large. In sight plain as day, no detector. She is still ahead of me with that find after 4 years She still encourage me though but it's hard for me to justify buying a newer model detector when I have to compete with a find such as hers.

I will try and take a photo later, you'll see what I mean.

I have to respond to this, GH is right, it really works that way. He has found two beautiful rings and told me to go find my own. I found 1 gold band, and traded him the diamond cluster he found way back, then he found a really nice pear shape diamond ring and it fit, so I had to go find a nice gold ring to trade him, just 2 days after he found that diamond ring I found a nice gold nugget ring and said to myself, "wahoo, I can trade him for that ring now" and I wear that pear shape diamond ring every day. So, get a detector that she can use, and she will be just as happy. Take care and God Bless
