Hope someone can help me with this medallion i found today . It is of George Washington made from copper ,it has his face on the front and these words on the back . First in war ,First in peace , First in the hearts of his countrymen ,Served as President eight years without pay. Does anyone have any info on this?

There are several issues of those. Which part of the country and how deep did you find it? (That could help determine its age.) I'll contact a specialist in Washingtonia and have him have a looksee. Judging from it's wear...I'd bet that it was a very important pocket piece to someone that had a reason for it to be so. I've seen them before and was told about multiple re-strikes (and I'd guess that one to be among the first).
 
I found it in Southwest Virginia it was at an old school that closed in the early 1900 hundreds. It was five inches deep.
 
Great find. M6 is a great Detector very easy to use just as effective .I am very happy with mine.you must be very happy with your coin it would be nice to know how old it is let us know if you find out.Thank for sharing it with us.
