Love my Geohunts

I just started using the GEOHUNT features and I love them. Looking at my hunt on Googlemaps is awesome and it shows me what I didnt cover that particular day. I thought when I purchased the CTX I would use the GPS feature very little, boy was I wrong. This brings the CTX to a whole new level

I agree with you, the main reason I upgraded from the SE Pro is the GPS and Geohunt feature. No more having to carry a handheld and scratch down all those numbers, not to mention like you said, it SHOWS you where you have hit and where you have missed.

I have been using the GeoHunt feature since I got my machine, the end of May. I've put more time in messing with the GeoHunt and Finds feature, both in the field and in the XChange2 application, than I have learning all the different aspects of the CTX. It may not be used by some folks, but I really like it. I usually set a Way Point at each of the four corners of a grid, then can go back later and start at any of those points and continue with the search. The use the Finds location, also, enables me to keep very good records for my use. As time goes by, and more Finds are recorded in an area and then plotted on Google Maps, I will be able to determine what areas are the better "producers".

Is there a way to overlap 2 different geohunts? I hate having numerous geohunts for the same location. Wish I could put them all into one geohunt. I also noticed the CTX allows for only 10 stored geohunts. Does the X2 software allow for more? Pretty soon I will be over the 10 so I hope I can save more

That's cool. I wonder if this feature will some day be used for seeded hunts. I'm not into them but a lot of people are.

I haven't found that you can merge GeoHunts to form one hunt. But I may give that some thought....Sometimes I can get creative, and maybe my idea will work, or maybe not. You have given me something else to think about, however........In the XChange2 application, you can create a folder and call it GeoHunts (or whatever), and store multiple hunts in that folder. I don't know if there is a limit on the total number of collections (folders etc.) that you can create in the application.

In the XChange2 application you can view multiple GeoHunts at the same time on the GoogleMap. But each hunt is still a separate hunt. Whatever hunts you drop into one collection will display blue all at the same time. When you drag the curser to a particular hunt, it will light that hunt up yellow instead of blue. (What I thought might work to merge them won't.)

For an option I thought I wouldn't use it has become one of my favourite features.
You can copy the geohunts to you file folder in exchange and they overlap. It shows all your hunts and the find points overlaped, at the same time. It a great feature, when you thought you were thourough, nice to examine the areas you missed.

I see that they overlap. It really shows you what areas you missed.

I am guilty of re-walking my hunts on Google Earth. I like that it shows each area I pinpointed in and so I can see where the signals trended this particular day. It is very interesting combining this with seeing any depth trends. I noticed that finds tend to stratify in different depth layers of sand. It is a fun feature to use.

I mostly hunt smaller areas so the GPS functionality doesn't help much with seeing where I covered as the resolution isn't fine enough and it crosses itself up.
BUT, where it does help is when I find spots on google maps to investigate. It seems to put me within 10 ft (here in Germany) of the spots.
I mentioned Germany as I heard in the States that GPS is more accurate than here in Europe.
