Love my Fisher f 70

Waterdog

Well-known member
I took my Fisher F 70 out and it found this right along side the playground equipment. I do not know what the symbols mean.

too it across the raod yesterday, and dug three more copper coins from the "Reservation". Two fatties (a 62 and 63) and another flying eagle. Got a sweet little gitl sash buckle too. That opickins are getting slim, but the F70 is still pullin them out. Total now is around 120 coins, with not one newer than about 1880. The F70 seems to handle the nails and trash VERY well, and with the DD coil feels and sounds a lot like the F75, but a tad quieter. WE are going to a nice old site tomorrow, and I'm going to give the 70 another pounding. Might even be able to use the deep made there!!!!

hi streak!
does this mean the 75 goes on the auction block soon?

good news!...what do you think are the main differences between the two?..thanks!

mine will hit my deeper targets in my test garden better than the F70. Also, you have the Stat mode, for Cache hunting.
I'm kinda partial to the Je mode as well, which makes the F75 a fine nugget shooter, and a demon in dry sand for small gold.
The PF mode is a keeper too. All in all, while I really like the F70, the F75 is a more versatile and well rounded machine, with many more options to fine tune your machine to specific circumstances.
If I could make ONE change to it however (the F75), it would be to add a SL mode for added depth in areas where you can use it. So far I havent found a site here where SL mode has an advantage, mostly due to the fact MY sites are 99% iron nail infested, and you lose a lot of separation and "finesse" in SL. One of these days when I find the time, I'll hit a few of my big colonial fields with the 70 in SL mode to really give it a fair shake.
I think BOTH machines have strengths, and there is a place for both of them in my stable. Problem is................... I'm probably gonna have to buy another f70, as the one I have is technically Lindas. (But fortunately, she kinda likes the F5, so I usually dont have to fight with here to use the F70).

thanks for the input!..what in your opinion,is the benefit of the plowed field process over the others?..i was "playing with mine at a very old common, and went into (j.e) proocess!..i was at 6 disc and about 70 (gain!)..it went bat s**t and i got out of that mode and back into (d.e) process and STILLc ouldn't get it to settle down, even though it was stable and silent in that process ALL day!..can't figure it,unless i got a "surge" of (e.mi!) from somewhere!..had to leave so.didn't try a frequency change!...thanks!

That EMI problem is precisely why I got rid of my F75. Check your coil connection to the box as its an EMI weakpoint if its not completely tight to the box. Fisher really needs to get with the program and use copper tape for EMI shielding and aluminum filled epoxy around any gaps to the outside (courtesy of an Engineer for NASA that knows a thing or two about EMI shielding).

thanks!..i did check that and try to check that every time i use it!..i believe i know the gentleman in question!..i'm gonna learn it if it kills me!..just cant justify buying metal detectors any more!..too damn expensive!..what do you use now?..may i ask?

I now primarily use an Xterra 70, but to be fair I have an F70 that my wife uses and I occasionally use. As a coinshooter its great, primarily because of the ease of use and lightness. Also, it doesn't have the EMI problems that my F75 did. For relic hunting my main machine has been the MXT, but I'm starting to really like the Xterra 70 for its lightness and versatility, as well as its ability to use tones in all metal. As for the NASA fellow I was referring to, his name is Tom, but its not the Tom you're thinking of. I work at Marshall Space Flight Center and have access to some of the finest engineers in the world. If you have a good F75 that producing for you, good for you and in no way shape or form take what I said above as a slam on F75s. This was just my experience and the last I checked we still live in a free country and recounting ones experience is not a crime.

i hope i got a good one, because i really don'r feel like screwing around sending it back and forth to fisher!..really shoudn't have to do that with a detector with aprice tag like the 75's!..i was given a few tips to try and believe they will work as i thingk it is just a minor issue!..whole lotta learnin' to do with this baby!..that's for sure!.good luck with f-70!
