Love finding coins in someone Else's dug holes.

I always get a big kick out of it when I find targets in the holes others have abandoned...They must not be using an E trac I laugh to myself. Today I had and hour to hunt so I went to a site I have been working on with short hunts close to home on the same pounded grass that has been the first place everyone goes to in town. I hit it slow over a small area...got a good signal deep at about 8-9 inches on the scale and dug down to find that a cut plug was replaced just off the mark of center by half and there on the side of the hole 2 inches deeper was a nice 34 merc on its side. I almost thought I was too cool for school but I had to swallow that as I realized that I am most likely the one who left it there...Damn, Damn, Damn!

Well if its any consolation I am sure its not the first time or the last! I just like to think I am better than that.
Just in cast your wondering In the end I pulled out a 1818 Buff, two 1930s wheat's and the 34 merc all lower than 7 inches as that is where the left coins are.

Around here in West Texas it has been so dry that after I dig a lot of targets in the dime range at 5 to 6 inches or more when the halo is damaged the target will disappear. I thank god for a hand probe.

That is funny, I always check places where others have dug... it is amazing how many times you find something. Some people rebury their trash like fools, some don't recheck the hole, and some can't find the target because they don't use a good probe or maybe they find some piece of aluminum or iron and think that was what they were hearing... whatever it is, it is ok with me.

I am usually very careful at digging any target lower than 6 inches especially in this lot as others have cleaned off the top well and I have been killing the deepies with the E trac. It was very dry (if I can use that line) but I really think I may have dug a penny out then not heard the dime on the re-sweep as it was on edge. I just hate to think that I missed any silver at all but maybe I will take that as a comfort that there is more for me to find still...in my spot and others. hehe.

I once found silver in my plug cutter! No joke, I pulled it out once and watched a silver dime tumble out. It must have stuck to the inside on a previous hunt!

Now I have found coins in other's digs that they missed and I consider it a triumph, except when that coin turns out to have been silver, and gouged by the last digger!

That is when you know you're on fire... when you find silver before you even turn the detector on!!! That's funny...

Thanks,

J
