Loud signals empty holes.

Just got back from the woods using the Vaquero with the 8x9 and 5.75 concentric. Had several deep empty holes with loud signals and no target found. Am wondering if a negative ground balance or the HOT circuit of the Vaquero contributes to this? I don't remember this happening with my two umax detectors.

Yeah , a negative ground balance will do that on a Vaquero .I learned the hard way too .

Iron reads high at times check the side of your hole also check the target in all metal if the pinpoint center changes its a clue that its iron Its been my experience iron will read good at the tip of your coil,,,,,CEDAR

i have found that happens when i messed around with those cosmic settings. super tuning, negative/positive GB, etc. i just run regular settings all the time now. it is deep enough. thats why there is a manual ground balance, to balance it. i run neutral GB, threshold at around 2 o'clock, sensitivity anywhere between 6 and 10, depending, on the area and it works great.

I will almost always push the pinpointer button for one sweep after I pinpoint the target . If it nulls out then either the ground has changed or I accidentally moved the GB which happens quite often in the woods . Cinders makes the Vaq act up and the more negative the worse . I might try a pos. balance next time I encounter them .

Not just Tesoro but any machine can false on decayed iron.
The big halo will be broke up when dug and the target disappears, often you'll see a rusty colored blob of soil.

Sometimes if you have a detector cranked up high settings wise,it can also give you false or phantom signals as well,i guess a good way to describe it would be like driving in thick fog with your headlights on full beam.

How did you miss those invisible coins? they were right in front of ya! DON'T YOU LOVE THAT you dig to china and you can't find anything. good advice tone the supper charged baby down!
