Lots of sand, & nipplely temps

Except for one decent wade hunt ($1.91) & a $2.17 day on the dry, targets aren't coming very easy. Wife found a alum. ring in the hot tub. There's 3 hunters staying where I'm at. We have tried just about everything. I guess I'm counting the picture as our best find. My brand too! Hunting Florida gulf coast. Well better days just around the corner. 22degrees last night.

Dancer Why did you tell me that? I am leaving Tue.13 for FL. going to be on Golf Coast, wanted to hunt a little but you have cleaned it up. Did you leave any pull tabs? How far down the coast are you? I will be about 30 Miles North of Tampa.

A nice towel and a half bottle of Rum is about as good as a Pirate cans ask for!:clapping:

Yooooo Hooooo Hooooo. Its not nearly that cold below Tampa. Guys, dont expect much this year..... gold is hard to come by with all this sand, renurishment, and cold keeping them off the beach. Those that are coming arent braving the water until we get some sunny HOT days. Dry sanding recent drops seems to be the only game in town. I havent seen quite the amount of snow birds with detectors as i did last year...... or it hasnt been warm enought for them to hit the beach. GL..... enjoy the vacation and hopefully take home a memorable prize.

Cool picture Dancer!! Good Luck!

I'm here to tell you that all of my area is ruined for detecting due to beach renourishment. We've got plenty of sand but no targets.

Dig/Dewcon, can you grab a light VLF rig and sweep the high dry while you wait on your water conditions to improve? Theres some good stuff to be found up on the high dry, but its tough to slog through that powder..good thing is you dont need a big scoop......We are frozen in from any wet work but hunting the powder up here...powder snow that is, on the sled hills..[attachment 306614 sno3.jpg]..Have found some great finds with VLF further up on the beach sand in the dune grass swales and off to the side of the main beach entrances where hardly anybody goes....think about finding the nightime semi private dune 'love' areas the nearest to the resorts, hotels or bars..this massive chain came out of such a place....[attachment 306615 gold.jpg]..whats an addict to do? Good Luck!

I have not been getting out much in the past month. I had surgery on my left thumb so I have been a one handed hunter since Dec 10th. I had the joint at the base of my left thumb removed due to arthritis. It takes quite a bit of time for that surgery to heal.

I have been to the beach three times and my finds have been poor at best. I did dig almost two pounds of lead sinkers on one of the trips. Beaches are sanded in until it takes a lot of hunting to even find a few clad coins.

Yesterday I went to a Resort Island where the only public access to the beach is at a County Park. After 4 hours of searching I had a total of $1.75 in clad and some stinking zinc pennies. I hunted from the dunes to the water and back again. The areas where i had previously been somewhat successful had a thick layer of loose sand deposited.

I need a good storm to move some of the sand off those productive areas.

Mud..........."What's an addict to do"?..........GET ANOTHER 'FIX' (gold ring, chain)! That's what you need to do to feel that everything's alright with the world!!

It's been a harsh winter on the Nor East coast for us hunters this winter!!

Warmer weather will sure be welcome!

Gotta get "out there" soon before I forget how it's done!!

GL&HH Friends,

CJ

Gosh Mud, after your first post I thought you'd given up on booty, but your second one indicates you are still thinking about it anyway! It is a coin flip as to who to believe about the weather. Was it the hottest on record or the coldest in decades? If finds are any indication I think we know! :detecting: Here's to better days! And more booty!
