Switch to Pro Custom (IRON DISC at 35) and reduce your SENS to 2 bars below top...If it still chatters, try changing Frequency, and if this does not help, drop SENS one notch at a time until it does...Some places near Radio Sations, overhead powerlines, and cell towers, I cannot turn the sens more than 4 or 5 bars...Also smaller coils do not need the high SENS settings...

I think GoGo is on the right track. Try out his advice.
You need to turn your sensitivity down a good 3 notches. The AT Pro in Standard mode can not handle the sensitivity at full power, even in my own very low mineralization soil. The Standard mode amplifies each signal so even the weakest signal can be heard at an equal audio level as a strong one. That's another reason that you get more signals. The Pro mode allows the deeper signals to read quieter (also referred to modulated audio). I too spent a fair amount of time in standard mode learning the AT pro, and found it very easy to switch to Pro mode. Once you learn the Pro mode, you will probably never go back to the Standard mode. The audio on the Pro mode has a language all of it's own, which once learned, really gives you an advantage for finding good targets amongst the trash.

Well, I'll relate the bobo that I did, maybe this isn't your difficulty. Went hunting after work and encountered what appeared to be false signals. Well finally figured it out--- eyelets in my work boots, every time I took a step forward and swinging coil to the forward foot it would signal. Turned the sens down a bit and increased the distance between coil and feet, all was well. Atp is very sensitive.

Ralph, you would laugh if you knew how many posts about weird detector behavior were caused by metal in footwear......seen & unseen (steel tipped boots).
