lost threshold

Anyone have issues with losing your threshold? Last couple times out my threshold with go dead quiet, sometimes for 20' when it does this I get no signals at all, even if I run the coil over a coin that I placed on the ground. If I don't move the coil the threshold comes back but as soon as I move it at all it goes away. Any help would be greatly appreciated

Have had on odd occasions ans so have a few others I know. Hit the pinpoint and all comes good again.

First thing I checked was connections, it's happened in areas I've hit before with no issues so I don't think it's iron. I'll try pinpoint next time it happens. Thanks for the help

If your issue isn't resolved by anything above I would reset the detector to default settings and see if it is resolved.

Keep us all informed...

Does this happen with an open screen?

Also - Have you tried using it without the wireless?

Had this happen a couple times with my Explorer....a factory reset cured it. REALLY "irony" ground will do it too,as stated. I don't know what caused my situation,I just know what cured it.

Haven't tried the open screen to see if it changes. Also haven't tried without the wireless, I'll try both of these as well.
Thanks

DK: I've had the same issue. Mine always happened around old home-sites, with a lot of Iron and Coal. I've tried everything to fix it, I've changed my patterns, coil, my settings( sensitivity, audio threshold, ground balance, everything). Some have helped but none have been complete cure. Lowering the sensitivity by half helped the most your able to get threshold back most of the time(but remember to change it back when your out of the bad area). You still can recover targets by watching you TID numbers(when you have no threshold). When I hit a area that's bad I usually do a good search around the bad spot then go back and hunt the area very slowly letting the detector do its work. HH Jack

Assuming the machine is working properly...... Anytime you run the coil over a target that is being disc'd out you're going to hear the "null," which is a brief moment where the audio threshold cuts out. Most machines react the same way to a disc'd out target..... with silence...... but if your using a machine that doesn't run with an audible threshold (AKA: silent-search), you won't even realize it's happening. IMO, it's always better to know when you're passing over a target that is being disc'd out, especially when you're dealing with falsing iron, which is why it's nice to have that null to let you know what is happening. I usually run with an open screen, but that gets a bit tedious at times. If you're getting constant nulls, cut back on the sensitivity, or better yet, get out the 6" coil. The stock coil is just too big for those "machine-gun iron" "carpet of nails/trash" sites.

Did all of the above and my machine is running much better, I normally run auto +3 went to auto +1 and reset the machine. Went to the same spot where I was having issues before and had no issues. Thanks everyone HH

I was just detecting by a metal baseball backstop and had no problem with the machine nulling to the extent that made detecting impossible. The next day when I was near the backstop I had to leave the area because of constant nulling. When I was about fifty feet from the backstop the nulling stopped. When I returned an hour later it started again. Why is everything good one day and not the next in the same area and with the same settings? I even did a noise cancel but it did not help. I just figured there was something going with the metal backstop and the electromagnetic field.
