Lost Ring ....

Willee - Texas

Well-known member
I am reposting this here hoping that someone might help this fella recover his lost ring.

I am newlywed husband that lost my wedding band on the 4th of July on Navarre Beach, Florida. I lost it in the water and I have already paid someone $200 to use his submersible metal detector to try finding it to no avail. The water has been pretty rough so I am assuming it has moved around a lot.

My ring is a 6mm Platinum Euro Shank ring with engravings inside that have our wedding date: 10-27-08 and the Verse 1 Corinthians and I love you inscribed inside the band.

I was told that people on this forum might try looking for it if they are in the area. I would be forever in debt and pay you a reward if you did find it.

I can tell you exactly where it was lost:

Turn into the Navarre Beach State Park and go all the way down to the furthest West parking lot. You will see Lifeguard Station 1 there on the beach as you walk towards the beach on the dune walkover. Go east of the "Designated Swimming" sign that is next to the Lifeguard Station 1 tower about 15 feet and you will be in line with where I was in the water when I lost it. I would say I was at least 40-80 feet or so out in the water. The tide changes so it is hard for me to pinpoint the exact spot.

I hope someone finds it. My cell # is 850-777-9092 if you do find it.

Michael

It would be great if someone here found that ring and returned it to this fells.

I'm Embarrassed that some one charged this poor guy $200.00 to borrow the detector.....

no doubt an a$$h@ !#-should of helped out that guy just for the sake of helping him-oh well karma is gonna have fun with him

If I were there I would of been glad to help seach for the ring. Would I turn my $1000.00 detector over to someone who didn't know how to use it? NOT. Especially since the chances of making other good recovery's during the search is not only possible, but probable. And I know, or atleast I think I know how to operate the machine. If the machine gets damaged who foots the bill? The owner.

If the detectors owner was there he would probably just as soon run the machine vs. stand and watch an amatuer try to find the ring (I hope). If it were you would you give up the opportunity to possibly find several pcs. while trying to recover this lost item or watch?

If it were a detector shop renting out a machine, what is the going price for renting a decent waterproof metal detector? What would you rent yours for? We really don't know the whole story. I hope that the man gets his ring back, for sure. And I would be interested in knowing the "rest of the story".

I'm simply offering a different perspective, not trying to ruffle anyones feathers, and fyi I live in Michigan so I had nothing whatsoever to do with this.

Steve :)

someone on this forum or any detectorist down there will help this guy out! if i lived down there i would search for his ring and would never even think of charging him anything. especially if i hadn't found it!!!????

The fella that lost the ring went to a detector shop to rent a detector and look for it himself.
The shop owner did not rent water detectors ... just land units.
However, he did offer to look for the ring for $100 per hour.
The fella accepted and the shop owner went and looked for two hours but did not find the ring.

Dont know who the shop owner was but he is a businessman and rented out his services.
Too bad some of the local water hunters were not there to help this fella find his lost ring for free.
Perhaps one of them will find it and return it someday soon.

That shop owner should be ashamed of himself, if he found the ring i could see the guy paying him but taking the money and no ring, he should have said give me 20 bucks for gas and my time, when will people catch on on, if that shop owner had of just helped that man out of kindness he would have been payed back by way of karma, other hunters i have talked to about getting found valuables back to there owners always have the same story, a few days later they make a remarkable find.

Steve I would think the detector shop would know at least a few hunters who might be willing to help the guy. Dan

Thanks Willie for the reply. I hope the fellow gets his ring back!

The best ring I ever found was a girls class ring that I had the pleasure of returning! Way better than a pc of metal in my pile.

HH and much success to all.
