I know this is hard to understand but the point is that though the son was lost and blind but now he was found and sees what he was to his father and brother! He came back in true repentance and asked forgiveness of his father for what he had done in leaving and spending all his inheritance, foolishly! This is a comparison to our Heavenly Father Who will accept each of us as we come to Him in Jesus' name for forgiveness and although we don't deserve His forgiveness He is ready to forgive anyone who comes to Him and says they're sorry and to please forgive us...there is no sin that God will not forgive but unbelief of His Holy Spirit when He is denied after being called, for all are called to come to Him at one time or another in their life!
To deny God that He is not our Almighty God and Savior, is unbelief and unacceptance of Who He is by being born in Human Form to dwell among men on earth and be tried and tested just like we are, so there is no excuse to deny that He is and He is alive and real! When we are a Child of God already and we leave Him for the worldly ways again, He is always looking for us to return just like this prodigal son's father, but it is always up to the prodigal to see how bad off he or she is by leaving the home and the best they have in life on earth and then apologize and ask forgiveness both from our parents and God, that is when we are changed and won't go sponging off our parents or others when wanting to live off others and not work or help ourselves!
Those who return and sponge off someone else and don't depend upon God are not saved and haven't changed at all or have become worse in their worldly ways of unbelief and self-righteousness! To return to God and His forgiveness by sorrow and true repentance is what is truly needed for anyone who is lost, blind and undone in His sight, but He will forgive us before we pass from humanity if we will let Him do so, like the Prodigal Son asked of his father! The older son who stayed and worked like he did was jealous of how his father accepted the younger son's return.....this is the same as someone serving the Lord all their life from the time born again and are jealous because an unsaved person is saved and welcomed into the Kingdom of God and we think he or she doesn't deserve it, but with God time is not of the essence as long as they come to Him and repent or return to Him in true repentance!
The parents of those who still use them and others should be held accountable for their actions through hard love....which most mother's and father's find it hard to do because of our love for our sons and daughters but for their own good they need to be tested and tried and live through hard times to come to their senses, but some won't; while some will! Those lost in the world will pay for their unsaved ways when standing before God's Judgment throne someday unless they repent and are saved before their mortality ends, as there is no repentance or salvation after mortal death! I know you know all of this, but maybe some don't understand and might help them to see, hear and be saved before death comes! Amen! May God Bless! Ma
