Lost in the shuffle

Well, my questions kinda got lost in the shuffle while other things got discussed, so I'll just repeat two here:
How many actually use the Explorer S ?
At what serial number did the new reinforced Explorers roll out of the factory?
Thanks,
Andy

Love to help, but cant answer either question.. maybe if you call Minelab they can tel you when they started using the new style box cover.. While I think relic hunters can easily get away with the S model, and most instances even coin hunters.. I just dont see the savings being worth not getting the XS.. I saw a couple new XS's on the classifieds less than 800..

...I'd also mentioned beforehand that I thought the savings weren't worth settling for the "S"....but I just discovered last night that a certain FL company (that shall remain nameless ) is currently having a sale on the "S" at $699...pretty impressive, but I still want the "XS".

Probably "on sale" because no one wanted them. There are several XS's on the boards for under $800 and some with added goodies like the 8" coil which most of us end up buying.
I bought my XS in Feb and "knock on wood" havn't experianced any of the problems with cracks or loose shafts. Although my earphone jack is broken, but still working, and one set of headphones developed a short in the cord. I would recommend the sunray detector stand as it allows you to plug it in and never have to uplug it unless you want to use the speaker and also to use the larger "Standard" earphone jack.
