Lost Gold rings

I had a friend of mine loose his ring in a park the other day. I told him that I could find it as I had a metal detector. I took my Explorer xs out for a day in the park, setting it for just Jewelry and going after only shallow tagets. After a day in the park and finding a few coins and foil, I feel as If I have forgot something.
Is there a special a special setting I can put in my Explorer to find just lost rings and shallow targets?
Thanks

knock the sensitivty down to 8-12 or even lower so you don't get the detector confused with any nearby trash 3" down. find a ring similar in size, color and carat to test in the same park. put the ring in various spots and see how low you can go in sensitivity and always pick up the ring. then go a couple numbers higher to be sure you get it. you should enjoy great target separation, few deeper signals to bother you and no falsing. I assume this ring will be picked up in "disc" mode, but if it is very thin and has little mass to it, you might have to use iron mask -10. then sweep slowly and methodically covering the area. if it fails, do it all again from 90 degrees away. that is just my opinion. good luck!

For shure adjust "gain" to 1 to 2 and check out loud response's.
Is the ring large, small, heavy, what karat gold?

The ring in question is a mans gold wedding band. It is not a small ring so it should be easy to find. That is even if it had been steped on.
But then again someone might have spotted it already, or the lawn mower ate it up!

that's were he lost it. I spent 5 hours searching for a ring only to find out he left it on the sink. I did find a merc so it was worth it.
