losing pinpointer

A bit off topic but.... I have a Vulcan 360 pinpointer. I have lost iit a few times and hunting for an hour to find it... anybody have a solution to this? Thought about a belt tether but is there a better way?

Buy a an x-1 or a new garrett...the garrett chirps and the x-1 is attached...
although the tether would work too...lol

Tether your pinpointer to your belt so if you walk away you will either drag it with or like most, notice to put it back in carry mode. I have never lost mine or displaced it yet by using this method !!!

I once lost my PPer in a park a few years ago. Got to know the caretaker and asked him to keep a lookout for it. A couple weeks later i returned to that park and low and behold he had my PPer. Gave him a few bucks reward.

Since then, i keep an eye and where abouts on my PPer (and other digging stuff) like a hawk. Never lost it again...so far!

Tethering the thing wouldn't personally work for me...already got enough crapola hanging on my belt.... and the lost PPer chirps won't do a thing in a noisy environment.
Just keep track of that PPer as you do with your wallet.

One thing that also helps, while re-sweeping the filled-in hole get in the habit of looking around too. Chances are you'll see the PPer or other tools if they're still laying there.

Get some really bright colored neon tape and put it around the pinpointer. You'll have to replace it every so often as it gets dirty, but it can be really helpful to see that bright orange or yellow tape off in the distance!

Regards,

Mike

I painted my pinpointer a real Bright Florence Red color and have left it behind a few times. Only to look over the field of green grass and see this Red pin pointer out in the green grass. Some people make fun of it but I have not lost it ...yet. A lost pin pointer is worth nothing but a bright colored one really saves my day.

Last fall I lost my pro pointer in deep woods and look for it for 2 hours! I found it! Whew! New pointer have sounds for people who can hear it! I am deaf but I taped bright orange so I can find it! I have two pro pointer.......normal black for park and houses. Orange for woods only!
