Losing depth and sensitivity with moist ground?

The ground is not wet by any means around here but there is some moisture in it which is a little higher than norm.
Recently I am finding that the max depth on coins I am getting it around 7 inches and even then they are not the greatest hits.
I've lowered my Gain from 10 to around 7-8 and lowered my sensitivity from 28 manual to around 26 manual.
Maybe I need to tweak sensitivity more for the ground conditions?
My friend and I was detecting this one place where we normally pull coins out between 8 and 12 inches. We detected it again about a day and a half after it rained. We couldn't get deeper than about 6 inches. We both gave up on the site that day. He has the EX II amd me the Explorer XS.
Maybe the moisture increases the reaction to minerals in the ground much like a wet salt beach?
Any opinions on what I should do with my Explorer to get past this hurdle?

Usually get much better depth in moist ground. Only good thing about drier conditions is that some claim it quiets down some of the iron falsing.
I usually won't detect in dry ground unless it is a construction area or somewhere where I don't need to be concerned about harming the turf.
This spring I pulled many old coins from pounded sites; am 100% convinced that this was because of wet ground and low grass.

Try burying some coins deep and see if you get them. Maybe you already pulled most of the deepies.

Maybe the field had too much iron in it? We couldn't run out sensitivity too high.

that was abandon and after an hour not much to show other than surface clad and high spikes none repeatables . Then my buddy moved his sensitivity down to 12 from 26 and then the deeper wheaties were everywhere. I than went to 14 sensitivity from 24. I soon was rewarded will deeper older coins. I normaly hunt in Conduct but in wet ground I do better in Ferrous.
