Loot from todays dive into the slurry pit

Goldringer

New member
:wiggle: Today I decide to dive into the slurry hole. It is a place where people jump off a cliff about 20 feet high. It has a depression about 30 feet deep right where you hit the water. This depression gets a little fresh water runoff and it fills with a slurry of algae that makes visibility at near zero. You detect by feel. I take the coil in my hand and slowly pass it across the bottom. When a target is hit I stop it and take my other hand and begin to feel for the unseen target. Feel for something hard and stuff it in the bag. The slurry is thick, full of muck, breathing through the regulator is a bit thick, sometimes even parts of trees that have come down the fresh water stream at high water. You never know which way to go, just feel your way around and accept the disorientation. A light is of little use and only tangles on limbs. Keeping the detector cable free is chore enough. This slurry varies from a few inches deep to several feet. Even when on top of it the water becomes black with the slightest movement.

Today was good. I came away safe and with a good bag full of interesting stuff. Got 5 Timex watches, one watch of unknown make but with correct time. 4 of the Timex's had correct time , one was dead. I found a 1 dollar bill on top of the slurry before dropping into it. One pair of polarized sun glasses, a bunch of clad change and pennies, several silver ear rings, a Big Nitro stud that i still can't believe I found in the pit, one Black Triton Titanium wedding band. that was a cheat. I want gold. Then came a very heavy 18K / Platinum 950 bimetallic wedding band that made it all worth while. OH, yeah, also found one stainless Tit ring, a mother of pearl pendant, a couple of broaches and bits and pieces of junk.

A very fun and rewarding day. wish ya all could have come :buds:along.:buds::fisher:

Now THAT'S "extreme detecting"! That ring is awesome...good stuff.

It'll come your way. Hunt close to exclusive hotels. There are times when I find more platinum than gold then I may go a a couple weeks with only gold. Platinum is becoming very trendy so we should be seeing more. I really like the 18K/plat mix. makes for fine looking collection. I found two platinums this week. One with 2.2 carats of diamonds. Those are rare finds any place.
