Loose coil on Excal

Carl M.

New member
I have used the Excal for years and have gone through a number of nylon bolts and nuts. The coil gets loose and invariably I tighten the wing nut too much and strip the bolt. Has anyone experienced this problem? What's the answer?

Might try a regular nylon nut under the wing nut to act as a "jamb nut" to keep it from loosening. Not familiar with detectors yet.Does it have to be nylon? If not,ya might wanna use the washers that are serrated on the inside on either side of the pivot.Next choice would be the blue loctite. It's semi-permanent so it won't back off on it's own,but you will be able to take it apart if need be.Hope this helps!

Replace the rubber washers on either side of the mounting bracket.

After you do that, make sure you loosen the bolt and wash the sand out of there when you rinse the detector off after each use as I just know you already do.:poke:

I always leave the bolt/nut loose when not in use.
