I got ahold of an awesome Amigo 2. This thing looks almost brand new and works like new too. I was impressed with the air test I have done with it so far. It seems like it may go just as deep as the old conquistador I had. This thing is so light and neat I can't wait for a great old site to try her out. Anyone else here have one??

Sweet !

I like the straight shaft set up on those, really comfortable to swing, you will have a blast with it.

Hi bigtim, that A II does shine like a new dime alright, Ya Done good!! I have two of them and can say for sure that you are going to enjoy that machine! I moded one of mine and left the other original . I put a plug about 12" in line outside the box so I could use different coils on it, and drilled a hole so I could reach in and tweak the sens. The hole was really not necessary though as it is not that much trouble to open the box and tweak it that way. I would advise you leave yours original though as no A II really needs a mod! It is a super Sweet machine as is! ! I can honestly say that for me the A II is the most fun to use machine I have and I have a bunch, mostly Tesoros . When things get slow and you are not digging much, just fire up the A II and get ready for things to happen. It's light and fun to swing and you will feel it's energy right away! And get ready to smoke some Big Dog Butt whenever you happen to fall in behind any of them! It will happen! HH, Charlie

Now I am pumped after reading all of your post!!! Charlie I do not think this is the stock coil. From all of the searching online I have found most of these to have come stock with a 7" concentric. I am glad someone added the 8" coil to this one. I am going to leave it alone as you advised but I can and may at some point take and mess with the sensitivity pot inside. As it is, it seems to respond to targets as good as other units with more bells and whistles. And for those who are wondering, I did get it off of that online auction place for less than 75.00 shipped. So I am very pleased with thte price. I always wanted to try one of these out. I do remember these in the magazines back in the 1990's. I found a lost treasure review on one and it was dated 1999. I thought that these were out before 1999. Maybe I am thinking of the first Amigo. I remember these seemed to have hit the market about the time the uMax units hit the streets. I have tried a compadre and those are just fine but I like how the Amigo is configured with the metal box under the shaft and the extended arm cuff and handle. Thanks for all of your positive reponses. I like metal detecting so much but, sometimes it is more fun being simple and enjoying the actual hobby than it is to fool around with the latest technology.

FYI - The Amigo II was produced from 10/96 to 12/99.

Thanks Tom for the info. I used to have a stack of mags from times gone by but have since traded and parted with them. I like looking at the old articles and ads in the older metal detecting magazines

looks like a good machine
