looking to up grade

marks

New member
I have been using a Conquistador for the last 4 years. I know this MD pretty good now. I'm thinking about up grading to the C or the V.

The type of hunting I do is old homes, parks, sidewalks, pretty much if there is dirt I hunt it. I may do a beach (fresh water) twice a year.

Is the V or C close in performace to the Conquistador ? If so then I might just stick w/the Conquistador.

Thanks

Mark

I think given the right circumsatances, the C or V would offer more usable depth. But for the general purpose hunting you do, it may not offer the huge advantages one would hope for - and which the hype suggests.

Perhaps one of the TID models would be more suitable for you? With the same depth capacity of the Con-Q, they would also give you some useful target data to help with your "townie", or "Cruiser" style.

You wont be dissapointed with the C or V, mind, but you're probably already doing okay with the Con-Q as is and merely need to explore a new direction.

SUGGESTION: Buy one of the TID models used. If you dont like it, you wont lose much to find out, since Tesoros enjoy great resale value!
And there are no service worries, as we all know!!

Just looking over the list of your hunting interests, you might also consider just getting a little 4 inch coil and attaching it to your Conquistador. You'll think you're using a different machine when it comes to target separation and pulling coins out from next to sidewalks and amongst alot of junk. Bigger and deeper isn't always better, and going to a higher gain machine is not always the answer. I'm a firm believer that there is much more hidden due to target masking by trash than due to unreachable "depth"....the most overrated and misunderstood consideration in this entire hobby. Think outside the box and go in the opposite direction of the "depth" crowd, and you might be pleasently surprised with the results.

... I have always been a devotee of the now departed H. Glenn Carson, who had similar things to say. I have seen the light and am just now, after 15 years, learning the joys of sniper coils. Thanks for the sage advice.
