Looking to hear from WA state members

I hope this is the right place for this? If not mods can you please move this to the right section? Thanks

I am a Seattle native looking to hear from other WA members. I am having terrible luck finding any silver what-so-ever! I am doing my research, hunting old places but thus far no luck! For example, a school built in 1939 with deep dark untouched soil. Maybe it's been hunted out? I keep wondering if the histroy is rich enough in this area to find silver on any kind of regular basis. One silver in five, three hour hunts would be nice. So far I've dug well over 300 coins without one stinkin silver.

Also it would be nice to meet up sometime and hunt together. Right now I am convienced that it must be me and my techniques. Maybe someone would be willing to help me out? However, I was on fire the other day. I dug 10 coins in under 20 minutes so I must be doing something right?

For the rest of you reading this is 0 silver to 300 clad a normal ratio? I'm trying to be patient. Would you all stick with it if silver were this infrequent? Actually, I'm starting to give up on silver and trying to focus more on memorials. ha, ha, ha! Watch, right as I start to give up on silver one will come my way.

RESEARCH, RESEARCH, RESEARCH is what I keep telling myself!!

How long have you had your E-Trac and what experience do you have in metal detecting? There can be many reasons you have not found any silver yet, might not have put your coil over a silver coin as of yet. A little more detail and I am sure there will be someone to help you. Don't get discouraged.

Yes. I may be a bit hasty. I've owned a bounty hunter for two months and an etrac for two weeks. 300 coins and no silver. I guess I need to keep at it.

When we started hunting almost 3 years ago, we estimated that we found one silver coin per 300-350 clad coins found.
We also went to old schools and parks and until this day I have only found One silver coin during any hunt.
We are also in an old State, one of the original 13 and our ratio is still similar today as you are experiencing.
But that one silver can turn out to be a great one, 1876 seated Liberty dime, 1907 Barber Half, both found in old parks.
Since that time we have managed permission to detect old private property which resulted in exciting finds but no silver, as yet.
It really comes down to luck and walking over that silver coin, it also does not hurt knowing your machine and having the
best machine you can have. The Minelab E-Trac.

Good Luck.

Skyblast,

I was thinking about your situation just now, and had looked up a post I was in on at the Explorer part. Hope this helps.

Widebody is the guys handle and he is down south of you in "Longview" I believe. You might get to talkin' to him.

Skyblast,

I live in Hansville but work in Seattle. have been MTDing for about 7 years and took a couple years until I found any Silver Coins, though lots of silver jewlery, and just found my first gold ring a couple weeks ago.
I have only used the Garret 1250, and even though a simply detector, It still took many hours of hunting to figure out how to best use it.

I have always hunted alone so would be interested in doing a hunt together sometime. I do want to upgrade and have been looking at the safari so I would be interested to see the e-trac in action since there are not any MD stores in the area to actually check them out.

Let me know if you want to meet up sometime for a hunt

thanks,
Andy
