Looking to go deeper

Love using my Garrett Ace 250, Three years now. Found rings and all the Clad anybody would be happy with. But I'm having trouble locking on targets deeper than six inches? Running four on the sensitivity. I know there are some coins down there. I just lose them when I go for recovery. Suggestions? Also useing Pro pinpointer.

Get the large coil for the ACE. Get the DD if your ground is mineralized. Putting a new coil on your metal detector is like buying a new detector without the price.

Turn your sensitivity up higher and/or get the larger Ace coils.

I use the 9x12 coil unless I'm in a trashy area. I cover more ground and it goes deeper, but my
experience in parks and sports fields is that usually deeper targets are chunks of junk...metal, iron, crushed cans.
I only dig deeper targets if I'm out in the bush around old houses. etc.

Thank you all!!, The experience, I learn something new every time I turn it on. Great advice. A double D is going to come into play next time. Parks is the only think I can hunt here in ABQ. N.M..
I'll be home soon after my work is done here. There in NEB. I have access to old farm homes and old parks that hasn't had Anny pressure. I just hope the weather is good.

I'm kind of confused how you are missing them after initially detecting them, and
using a pinpointer in the hole.. But anyway... you canwill get more depth if you crank
the sensitivity up. At the cost of more falsing of course. But you can still tell them
apart as falses don't reliably repeat, and real targets do.
I run mine pretty hot. And they do go deeper that way. I've proven it to myself
on real targets. I've seen stuff that would hit on 6-7 that would be ignored at 4..
The ace 250 pinpoint mode is always full strength, so adjusting sensitivity has no
effect on the pinpoint mode. It can only be varied by retuning.
So even if you run "4" on the sensitivity, when it comes to pinpointing the target,
you shouldn't be missing it, unless you happen to be detuned.

Get the 8"x6" SEF search coil for Ace 250. Now available at KellyCo for $149.95:biggrin: Happy Hunting!:)
