Looking to buy a Tesoro-Advise on which model?

Brian in Ocala

New member
I already own an older Whites 4900-D, and a Detector Pro Wader model and I was at a competition hunt with my club this weekend. I wasn't too familiar with the Waders settings and won the first place prize for the most "trash" as most of what I found was nails! I couldn't help notice the top winners were finding coins and were using Tesoro machines. I wanted to purchase one and was looking for opinions on which model was primarily good for coins and jewelry on land and beaches in mid Florida. Any advise from experienced people using Tesoro machines would be appreciated. Thanks, Brian in Ocala

I've been using a Vaquero for about 6 months now and highly recommend it. I use it on the Texas beaches in dry and wet sand, even submerge the coils an inch or two once in a while, with no problems, relic hunting in the woods and coin shooting in the parks and old homesites. Its got a really fast retune for excellent target seperation in trashy areas. You can swing it all days because its so light. Lots of coils available for any type of hunting.

Hay Bryan,

Tha reason Tesoro users do well is because Tesoro'es are
fast. They recover guickly. No need for a pin pointer. Am is
for target ID, in my opinion. And it does that well, in my
opinion.

Not everyone feels comfortable with out a display, but Tesoro'es
are really fun ta hunt with, if you like analog style hunting..

I agree with Sqwaby about tha Vaquero. It is light as they come.
It is supprisingly deep on small low conductors like gold. It is
smooth running in most environments. Not sure about wet salt.

But, for a more supped up Tesoro is tha Tejon. I'm not sure if
you are ready for that or not. But you may be???

A lower cost is tha Silver. It's real fast, but doesn't have a
threshold based AM and it does not have ground balancing.

I am thinkin you need tha ground balancing feature, if you want
to try to adapt to different environments, as you mentioned.

That's my suggestion.

There are some nice Tesoro,es that are not in production any
more, and can be purchased used for less money.

Hope you get and like a Tesoro. I have 5 Tesoro'es and no other
brand.

So, you can see that I am sold.

Happy Huntin,

Tabdog

well if it was me , i would get a deleon or a golden for the parks and pick up a 5.75 concentric and a 7" widscan and a 3x18 widescan now for the deeper stuff the vaquero thats a if i could

Take note of which of the Tesoro machines were spanking the targets. Read past post & reviews. Review what Tesoro site offers. Figure your hunting style and narrow down what fits your needs.

I have the Cortez its still new to me since I have only used it for 15 minutes. But in Fla I would look at the Cibola, Delona with the meter and Golden umax.

I have a Valquero and a Golden , they are both great machines for hunting coins and jewelery and relics . The valquero is very deep on dry land and it will work in the wet sand at the beach but not as deep , if you are loking for a deep machine at the beach you should look into Minelabs , they are unbelievable deep on the beach
