Looking in the wrong spot...

DirtSurgeon

This morning after work (night shifter), I went out for about 2 and a half hours in a local soccer field looking for some rings or silver or anything other that the usual clad. I found 1 matchbox car, 25 quarters 21 dimes, 7 nickels and 10 pennies for a total of $8.80. No jewelry and no silver but I had a blast. So... i packed it in and went home to bed. Got up this afternoon to go back to work, realized that I needed some change for the vending machine and grabbed a handfull from my change bowl. I was headed for the machine with a bunch of dimes and lo and behold...., not one, but two silver edges looking back at me. (1963 and 1964) I found silver after all today !!

Sorry no pics, i'm at work.

Happy Hunting !

 Congrats on the silver! See you're finding so much this year you don't even know when you have it anymore. :poke:

:usaflag:Silver is even better when it surprises you...congrats.

Looking in the wrong spot? Looks to me like you hit a spot
that no one else has hit, at least not for a very long time!

What Metal detector were you using?

You might want to go back there and come at it from a different
direction this time. Take small parts of it, in a grid fashion, going at in in one
direction and then in another direction. You will be surprised to see what you
missed.

Dig every signal. It might be junk but if you dig it anyway you might be surprised,
and make sure you carry a bag to put the junk in. That way you won't
have to see it the next time you MD that field.

Hey Katz, Thanks for the tips. I will definitely be going back. I got at least $3 gridding just the center circle of the soccer field. I dug as much can slaw and penny signals as I could stand. I would have stayed longer but it was a muddy mess and I had to sleep for work later. My boots are still a little wet. The ground was like cutting chocolate cake though, so that was nice. I always carry a trash pouch, and will need a bigger one for this field. LOTS of can slaw and pull tabs. I know there is jewelry there somewhere. I just gotta be patient. Ace 250 with 10 x 14 excellerator coil is my weapon of choice. (for now, until I can afford the 350.) I may have to break out the sniper coil for some parts of this field.

Thanks all for the comments,

DS

Congrats on the finds! ....and dang you for making me want chocolate cake now :spin:
