Newb, have you tried your local detector stores? Usually that would be a good place to start.The store owner might know a few people that might be interested.

for a two year stint at the Salton Sea. Even the phone number
is incorrect. I called but no one knew what the @#^%$ I was talking
about. You don't need two years to roam the beaches but you might
if you were going to hunt down the alledged Spanish ship that is
supposed to be buried in the sands there.

Of all the legends about lost and found and lost again treasures in the Southwest, there is none more mystifying than the enduring tale of a large sailing vessel which lies, full of riches, somewhere in the restless sands of California

Think about it thought nobody believed in stuff from bible that's been found,or the Romans,and Greeks,fables and they are finding theses places did exist.Look at the newest Egyptian digs.We are finding and unearthing fables,myths,rumors and stories to be fact everyday.Where would we be if nobody ever not believed and didn't look
