Looking for playground hunting inspirations.

Good day all, I am getting back into detecting after a hiatus pursuing Flyfishing. I grew up in an area with lots of colonial sites and loved detecting the woods, wood roads, and cellar holes for relics and coins. I hated hunting for new stuff, and it even took me a while to get used to city parks when I moved to the Albany area. I learned to like them for old coins and keepsakes but never found much jewelry but never really hit any newer playgrounds either. I wondered how many rings, and other jewelry is actually found at newer playgrounds. Is it worth changing my mindset and digging alot of pulltabs for the gold? The playgrounds are everywhere. Also how often do you hit them and how much gold is found?

and baseball complexes near concessions and the paths people wear in by walking (if you just want easy stuff in quantity) and dig the high value coins--skip zincs.
Same around the perimeter of stands or soccer fields.

Thanks a bunch Vlad! I hit a local soccer field last night with only about an hour before dark and I found a few dollars and my first jewelry in a while. I haven't had a lot of time to travel too good spots to metal detector fish so I've been set my sights on places closer to home that might turn a profit. I never looked at metal detecting as a way to make much money and I kick myself in the butt for the old buttons and buckles that I sold but if I could start finding some jewelry and find a couple dollars a day to pay for coffee life is good and it sure is nice to put the headphones

I hit a lot of chip areas. Find a few jewelry items but mostly clad and toys (hot wheels). I have found that when around the metal structures that if you reduce the sensitivity to 1-2 you can get really close to the structure and the finds greatly increase.

Some may be zinc, aluminum, and pewter also: in old areas check some of the trash targets that read deeper than normal.
(As depth increases, when enough information is not returned from a target, it can be bumped up to the next notch, exa. nickle to pulltab.)
It seems too that more thin gold rings fall into the foil range more than the nickel area. Gold chains.....good luck.
(make sure you check open areas around parks...ETs have been spotted there at night and do drop things--look for ground with burn areas and dead grass.)

Hunting tot lots, sports fields, sand volleyball courts, skate parks, can land you some rings and jewelry, I have found 43 rings in the last couple years with 3 gold rings, 1 gold chain with crucifix, Madonna pendant and a ring and ear ring to be tested. All found in tot lots with exception of the Madonna and a gold ring. All gold with the exception of a 8.4 gram ring comes up in foil range. How much you hit the tot lots depends on finds and how much competition you have. I have found some silver rings there but a lot around sports fields. For a better sample where gold rings ring up look on you tube Gerrys Detectors" finding gold rings with the xterra 705" . One thing if you are hunting around anything with High School kids, dig zincs because some class rings come in the low zinc range. HH

There is a local park that I was hesitant to go detect as in my mind it was far too new. But it has yielded a few hundred dollars in clad, three silver coins, three silver rings and one 10k ring so far. Unfortunately some other coil swingers have invaded and not targets have become scarce.

I only live about 4 miles from that park and it has served me well as a place to go and dig some targets when I do not want to travel further.

I agree, it is nice to itch the detecting scratch for an hour or two but tough when you know the good spots are an hour or 2 away.
