Looking for Pinpointing TIPS for the F75 LTD

MarkCZ

Well-known member
Mainly interested in the different technics of pinpointing tips for coin hunting that other users have come up with that works a little better than the instruction in the manual.
I've used round coils for YEARS but the elliptical is taking some getting use to for my brother and me!
Any And ALL suggestions welcome!

Start by locating where you think the target is.
Then release the trigger and move the coil to about 3" from where you think the target is and pinpoint again.
Sometime I do this 2 times before locating the true center location of the target.
Only exception would be a coin on edge.

Are you using the CENTER of the coil? I'm reading some other stuff about other detectors with the elliptical coils pinpointing off the toe or heel of the coil, is that something that would work with the F75?

I always pinpoint off the toe (center/top) of the coil and do not invoke pinpoint mode. It works best with low discrimination and when there are no co-located targets under the coil.

If you look closely at the center rib, an inch or so in front of the mounting tabs, you will see a round dot, about 3/8" in diameter. I cut out a piece of masking tape the same size and painted it with a red Sharpie. This is the 'sweet spot' for that coil. Run your sweep to get the best signal, keep mental note of your imaginary line and move around to perform the same sweep 90 degrees from the first to get an x and y axis. With a sharp target, you should be able to walk around your target swinging little 1 to 2" sweeps and get the same tone all the way around. If you must have a depth, pull the switch and check. My F75 standard will put me right on a target.

I have never don the heel toe methods, the sweet spot works for me!

Mine is pretty much the same as Roland, the dot on the coil, except on shallow targets. Then the target shows up more towards the heel of the coil.I have had probs pinpointing my f75 though, sometimes when I pull the trigger it sounds off no matter where its pointed, even in the air!! I have to let up then try again, dont know why.Alot of times though its pretty accurate with the dot on the coil and I dont need to pp.When I do pp its to verify the size of the target and its approx. depth. JMHO..rick in mi.hh

Roland is exactly right about how to pin point with the 11" DD coil, throw a coin on the ground and practice you will see what he is telling you. HH:detecting:
