Live in the Piedmont area of NC. There are gold areas to the south all the way down to Charlotte. Looking for sites that can be detected and info on what detectors work well in NC - is it mineralized like the west? Have joined GPAA but no local meetings yet. Even though NC had its gold rush long before California (1799 here) it seems to have been forgotten.
