looking for new detector DFX or XLT

I am trying to decide between the WHITES DFX and the XLT.
I mainly hunt parks and schools, but live only 1 hour from the Massachusetts shore and when I have time hunt the beaches down to the low tide line.

What do people recommend for finding coins and jewelery on land and on wet beaches?

I wonder about the DFS 2 frequencies, it sounds like if you are in one you will miss targets that you might want, ie in 15m you would miss silver coins that are found in 3m

The Dfx can run in dual frequency(both at the same time) or either one.I think it's called "best data"

If you are set on getting a Whites then get the DFX. The XLT is absolutely useless in the wet sand or anywhere near the water. You will want to toss it into the ocean after a few minutes. The DFX does better, though it's no match for the Excalibur or many other machines at the beach. On land it's a good machine. I owned a DFX and made some decent finds with it both on land and the beach. Compared to a Minelab or a Fisher machine, the DFX lacks the depth. I think a better choice for your requirements would be a Minelab Sovereign GT. Great on land, great on the beach. It's a non-waterproof Excalibur with a few extra features.

Have them both and an Excal to boot. The Excal and DFX go everywhere with me and the XLT lives in the closet. Enough said?

ON SOME MASS BEACHES THE XLT WILL RUN BETTER THAN OTHERS,BUT SOME IT WILL BE USELESS, I USE A BEACH HUNTER ID A DFX THATS WATER PROOF, I USE THE VISUAL ID AND GET GREAT DEPTH

I've owned both XLT and DFX. Now own Excalibur.

The XLT can't be beat on dry land for target ID.
Its not as deep as others such as Explorer.

The DFX runs deeper than the XLT,
but is less stable. The DFX requires you to center
target, then target ID is fairly accurate. DFX is hot on nickels.

The XLT will not work in wet sand at the beach,
The DFX will work at the beach, but not nearly as well as
the Minelab BBS machines.

I'd get an Explorer II or get different machines for beach & parks.
The XLT E Series for parks, and a Minelab Soverign for beaches.
You can buy each of these machines used for about $350-$400.
