Looking for land detector,need help

OK,I have a whites surf pro,but want a new/used for land and my wife can use on the dry beach areas.Which one should I buy.I love tesoro's so it has to be one.I will use it in parks and fields so it will have to discriminate.

Hi Chris. I don't know your cost desire, so these are the natural
3 I'd go for that you both could be happy with, from low to higher
cost:
1. Silver-- simple but very effective
2. Cibola-- preset GB & 14 kHz.
3. Vaquero--manual GB & 14 kHz. The manual GB would help if used on
wet sand.
The 14 kHz range is a bit more sensitive to smaller Gold like ladies' rings.
The lowest cost Tesoro is of course the Compadre, very simple but superbly
effective (uses only the 5.75 coil).

Any of these would be excellent for your stated wants for dry sand and fields,
especially with Tesoro's optional coil selections.

Chris I have a DeLeon and use it on the beach. It is good in dry sand. It is light, east to use. It was my only detector for all of last summer and only worked fresh water beaches. Picked up about 1700 coins with it last year. It works good on beaches but not all of the beach. I detect about 6 different beaches. Wet sand or the black sand not so good lots of falsing. It is hard to tell if a target is there or not. I just skirt around those places on the beach. Hope this helps....Jer

The Silver or Compadre-if you can get by without target ID. With the Silver you can cover more ground in school fields, parks,etc, because it has a larger coil. The Compadre works the iron and foil sites and "sees" through the trash better because of the low-gain circuitry and small coil. If you have to have target ID, that is a whole 'nother ballgame.

My vote would be the
Silver uMax - simple and easy to use.
or the
Vaquero with ground balance more all around detector for mineralized ground (such as the beaches)
