Looking for Info on the 10" DD coil for Gold Bug Pro

I'm holidaying soon at an area with salt water beaches, and when detecting there I use the Gold Bug Pro in All Metal and use the 11" DD coil...gets good depth, and, I think, does pretty well. Does anyone have any knowledge of the 10" DD coil on the GB. and how it compares under beach (saltwater) conditions with the 11". I know they are about the same weight....is there any advantage/disadvantage with one over the other. Thanks for reading. Looking forward to replies. HH
 
I have both and have been hitting the beach the last month. I believe there is a large measure of subjectivity here, but I just like the 10 MUCH better. It seems to pinpoint almost as easily and the 5 inch DD and goes (almost?) as deep as the 11. I have had my best finds using the 10. I haven't seen where anyone has done side by side testing, but I think the 10 is a really great balance of focus and power and a better choice for nearly every situation. I've seriously thought about selling my 5 and 11.

Aliensr, thank you for the link. Mike summed it up with pin-point accuracy: "If you prospect you will need this coil." After reading his frank analysis, I know I'm gonna like this coil...a lot!
 
had the 10 good coil but its gone kept the 5 like it much better :thumbup:
but just my opinion the 5 seems to be happy on my goldbug :detecting: fun fun
 
Hey Wildwiz, just curious what was it about the 10 DD you didn't like? I find criticism much more helpful than compliments. So far I've only seen gripes about the extra cable length and that is not a problem to me.
