Looking for an underwater detector

Beggars Tomb

New member
Greetings

I was wondering if some of you could recomend some great underwater detectors that can still do pretty good on dry sand and land. I will be hunting mostly lakes and streams in Indiana - Michigan ground. Is a PI or Discriminator the way to go ? What are some of the pros and cons and if anyone could let me know some good brand names and models that would be great.

I am going to be picking one up very soon, but do not want to buy in haste. I am willing to spend up to around the $ 800 dollar range give or take. I want something with good depth that will find gold, relics and coins.

Thanks for any input

Some folks don't like the fact that the 20 is permanently locked in the SALT mode, but honestly, with all the iron mineralization in the dirt here in MI, SALT mode actually helps.

I like using the 20, because it's built like a tank, and the control-box is hipmountable. Also, I've used a CZ-5 for years on land, so I didn't really have to learn a new detector to get in the water.

I'm not that far from your area. Good luck.
