Looking For An Old Boy Scout Camp. Did Get A Silver

Out today with the Apex searching for an old Scout Camp, as rumor had it. I hiked many trails around a river, but no real signs of any camp. I did however find a small coin spill including a silver dime. I also dug up an iron signal, which turned out to be the buckle on a partial old leather belt. There were a few fresh long bones lying around, so I kept an eye out for wolves or a cougar.

It was below freezing, and the APEX worked flawlessly for the hunt. No freezing screen and no low battery. Some of my older machines with nobs used to give issues, as the knobs would seize up.

Thanks for the report John. Good to keep an eye out for natures' local residents as well.

I had an opportunity to FINALLY get my APEX assembled and take it for a shake down cruise. Garrett did a great job with the ergonomics. The APEX is light, very comfortable in hand. The controls are easy to use and in the right place. Menu's very well designed. I have the wireless headphones which are great, simple to use, plenty of volume, good audio. It felt like it was well built and sturdy, yet, still light in hand.

You have a good amount of time behind the display. Any favorite modes yet ? Base settings to start at each time. ?

Any word on optional coils from Garrett or after market?

Thanks,

Rich

I am still hunting in multiple frequencies. I don't need the depth where I am hunting. I have been digging all the deep targets though. The APEX like most other detectors may not always read targets properly at extreme depths. So far, no surprises yet. I do like the fact that it is so light too. It'd not so hard on the muscles when hunting in hilly areas.

The area where I hunt has a history of a couple of old homesites and cabins. Found this the other day while walking an old logging trail. May now have to go detecting with guards!!! (7mm Rem Mag across bottom, track was extremely fresh so we backed out)
