I have been hunting old, trashy house sites, in the factory coin mode. I have tried -16,ferrous tones but picking up too much iron. Does anyone have any souped up custom modes that I could try? Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

Where in Tn r u?
Having the same problems. Just got a 5 in coil not had a chance to try yet. Hopefully will help
try boosting iron mask just abit 15 or 14 to knock out some of the nails.
Drop me an email if we are close enough maybe we can swing a coil together

Hey Rick, I live in Franklin, Tn. I am currently using the 10 1/2 factory coil. However, I have ordered an 8 inch Sun Ray from David Keith. Next time out i will try iron mask 14 or 15 and see how that does. Thanks.

One of the pattern I use a lot if I am looking for the deep coins is to go to advances and go to the learn screen and black out the whole screen, then go to the edit and use the large cursor and go to the top right with it and hit the check mark so it will accept (the cursior will go white) and run it accross the top of the screen to the left untill there is only maybe 1/4 inch that is black. Now turn off the accept by hitting the button again. Now I will go back to my learn mode and turn down the sensitivity and learn in the nickle using the medium cursor. Now you just have to save it in one of you slots.
Now this pattern will get all your good coins and reject most of the trash, but you will get fooled more with the nickles and beaver tails off the old pulltabs. If you run ferrious the good coins will be high pitched and if you get a coin beside a nail the audio will be high pitched, but cross hairs may show iron so go around the target and see if it is repeatable, if it is dig it as it is good.

I have the same problem. I have tried many things. The one main thing that seems to work is going real slow and digging the repeats. I wish you were closer to Nashville. I am comming down tomorrow and would love to detect with ya.

I've been hunting an old ghost town site and have had the same problems. Running iron mask -14 and ferrous sounds. And using the 8" coil. Helped by going real sloowwwwww...but I think the 5" inch coil would be a big asset. Just my opinion. HH Jake
