Looking for a used HeadHunter Diver ... Is that a good choice?

I purchased a used MXT last year and love it but have not had a lot of time to use it here in ND yet, so I know very little about detecting on land and nothing abut beach / water detecting.
I have a son that is working on his Marine Biology degree in FL and does quite a lot of Scuba diving for his work and research. I would like to get him an all around detector that he can also use while diving, hopefully a used one in good condition. I have tentatively narrowed the selection down to a DetectorPro HEADHUNTER Diver, mainly due to it's compactness. Is it the best choice for a newbe or should I be considering the PI? From what I can gather, a PI machine is harder to operate and it does not have discrimination.
Any suggestions would be helpful. Thanks, Mike

After receiving some very good advice and investigating some PI forums, I have decided that the PI would be a better detector than the HEADHUNTER Diver for my son doing mostly salt water diving while going to school and working as Marine Biologist.
Would like to find a HEADHUNTER in good condition.
Thanks .... Mike
