Looking for a used 4" dredge

Does anyone know where to get a good use 4" suction dredge at a affordable price, looking to take kids out for some treasure hunting this summer, and any opinions to the best places to go? I'm totally new to this, so any advice be greatly appreciated, I like to get the gear too, like the under water gear, Thanks Brian

Hi outdoors, it depends on where you live as to where you can get the best deals. Out West dredging is out lawed, so check your paper for deals. Back East there are dealers that you can get orders from but you pay shipping. I live in Kentucky and have a small 21/2" dredge and a 3" highbanker dredge combo. I get most of my tools from GPAA club, we do alot of trading. You can get plands and build one, not to hard. Highbanker is ease to build. Hope you find a good one, some are not for fine gold. Yeh I'm from Missouri, I was a union fabercator for 20yrs and owned a manufacturing co, I know I could build one, been looking for plans, hard to find, I really haven't even seen one up close, if I had one to copy or plans it would be a breeze, and would give my kids a sence of accomplishments, using something they buildt, well if anyone know to plans let me know thanks Flintstone

Brian, I have done some hunting around over the last couple months on making my own dredge because my wife and I would like to move out of California to southern Oregon and her cousins do a lot of dredging there. I found the most useful information came from the DIY videos on YouTube. I like watching a whole slew of them and then taking the general principal of all the different functions and designing my own for what works for me...haven't built one yet but I am gathering the supplies and I have a notepad filling up with more plans and designs every day! Good luck and I can't wait to hear what you come up with!

Golddredger.com and GPAA both have DIY links, videos and instructions. MUCH cheaper to buy--with the dredge ban on-than to construct. Buy used ,but not abused offa craigslist or forums and modify to your liking and save $$$$$ and time-John
