Long story short went home to Pa to visit family and go to my 25th high school reunion and do some deer hunting. During the 2 weeks there only got out for 3hrs and got $ 2.45 in change. The day before I was leaving my dad asked if I could find a water shut off valve for a freind that was 3 ft deep but a pipe was buried near the surface to mark the spot but they didnt know where it was at all . I said sure after digging some pop cans and a canning jar lid with the milk glass I got a hard signal it said 8 inches. With confidence I said theres your pipe and started to dig. a silver disk fell back in the hole and I said oh my god thats looks like a silver quarter I picked it up and cleared the coin and I saw the shielded eagle all I could say was oh my god , oh my god , I flipped it and saw the seated lady :surprised: then I started to shake when I saw the date 1876 the next words were holy s#%* . My dad kept saying what what then I explained what it was and how I never thought I would find one let alone one that was on the centennial of our nation. I looked at him and said grab a stump we're gonna be here a bit, after searching the rest of the area no more coins and the funny thing was I never did find the pipe , The quarter is in awsome shape the edge is reeded, all the words are highly visible the eyes of the lady and the eagle are there, the stars are high relief I cant believe the condition after a 136 yrs HH to all and good luck

Holy moly! That's a real beauty, and so cool how you found it. I wish I could have your luck every time somebody asked me to locate pipes and survey pins!

Sweet!! She's in great shape, too.

too bad you did,nt find the pipe but i,ll take that seated any time congrates on most excellent find

Awesome find! Congratulations! Too bad about the pipe.

I recently got permission to hunt some nearby farm fields and asked the farmer if there was anything he'd lost that I could look for while I was out there. He said yes, a piece of steel machinery about 8 inches square and 2 inches thick. Great I thought, that'll be easy. I'll find that first to thank the farmer for allowing me to search on his land. Well, long story short, I couldn't find the thing! I had her in Pro mode zero and was moving pretty fast to cover as much ground as possible. Any suggestions?

Thanks everyone it was a crazy surprise I figured my next one would be a SLQ due to the 1905-1960 houses I hunt never in a million years did I figure I would find a seated but what made it great was my dad was with me to share this awesome find he's 66 now and I did 20 yrs in the army so we didn't have alot of time together . So this will always be a great memory HH. Scott
