Looking for a new digital camera.....

I own a Kodak 3.2 mp Professional and am not new to the digital world, but I want to step up to a 4 or 5 mp camera. I am looking at the Olympus 4000 (4 mp) and the Nikon 5700 (5 mp). The Olympus got some great reviews. Was wondering if any of you know about either of these cameras or can suggest one in that mp range. I am willing to spend around $500. Thanks, Ron

The Nikon 5700 is a real sweet camera but I don't think you're going to find it new for much under $650. I looked at it pretty hard for a while and the one thing that stopped me was a lack of scene modes. If you're a real experienced photographer then that is not a big deal. But for what is essentially a high end point and shoot camera I wanted a scene feature to simplify my shooting. I have several SLR cameras if I feel the need to get creative. I finally bought the Nikon 4300 and I've been generally happy with it. Also, don't forget that the new Nikon 8700 is out and it looks mighty nice as well. Below is a link to a review of the 5700 that should be pretty helpful to you. Good luck!

The Olympus C750 is a 4mp camera with a 10x optical zoom and goes for under $500. If Olympus corrected the chromatic abberation present in earlier models it is hard to beat for the money. Olympus has claimed they switched to an ED lens on the C750 so the CA should be fixed.

The Nikon might out of my league and price range. I have 2 Nikon film cameras and they have the great optics, but everything I have read on the Olympus models in my price range have been positive. I will check into the 10x zoom model a little closer. Thanks for your replies. Ron
