Looking for a good beach scoop-stainless steel

Surfline

New member
Forum,

I am looking to purchase a very reliable, durable beach scoop. I prefer stainless steel. Do you have any recommendations? If you know the price, please let me know.

Thanks,

Brian

I like it, it takes a big bite but its heavy.

One thing I can say after digging in wet and dry sand I cannot do without the screen bottom. If your going to do some serious digging and shaking for long hours nothing sifts sand better then a screen bottom scoop. another bonus is they are lighter then the all stainless with holes so you can afford to carry a bigger scoop.
I have a 7 inch stainless that is still going strong 4 years later but there is a 5 inch steel unit I like to use because its lighter and at 69-79 bucks its easy to replace every year or two. I would stay away from any two piece scoops because they tend to come apart, solid one piece is the way to go.

Look at Kellyco web site they have 2 pages of long handle scoops, On the second page they have a sand scoop for 169 dollars, That is nice, and they have scoops under that price also.

The 6061 is a great scoop.

The scoop for 169 dollars is a sand scoop if you enlarge the pic you will see it is a sand scoop with a wire type design basket.

If you live outside of Florida Kellyco does not charge tax, and most scoops are shipped free .

I have purchased many detectors and other items from Kellyco and never had any problems with products, and ther customer service is great should you have questions or problems.

I mostly deal with Wanda she does alot of beach detecting and has been very helpfull the past couple years.

Well Kelleco can be great on prices and will probably match a price if they need to. I bought 5 scoops from a local shop here in california, I got a good price on the quantity and havent needed a scoop in quit ahwile,
These were copies of the RTG beachmaster model 700 which is a good scoop, there is one at De Marco detectors that looks nice with a wood handle so its light.http://demarcodetectorsales.com/html/Beachwater/Wscoops.html
hope thats OK to post. I might order one.
Be sure whatever you buy your hand can get as close to the scoop (where the handle meets the basket)
as possible so when you shake the sand through your not straining your wrist. A good scoop will have reinforcement like a bar of metal there, but you want a gap where you can get at least a few fingers next to the scoop, you will appreciate this advice after about 75 digs.
I have literally detected myself exhaustion so I`m well aware how much every pound of equipment makes on a long day.
Good luck out there.
