Looking for a F75 SE user that has tried the garret AT Pro

First and for most I LOVE my F5 detector. Now that said I'm looking to buy another detector and always thought the F75 SE would be my next machine. But after seeing Diggers on TV and watching them dig up great finds, I been thinking about the AT Pro. I like that you can submerge it up to 10 feet of water but that's as far as I got with knowing anything more on the machine. I guess I'm looking to see how comparable the F75 is to the AT Pro in depth and performance. I know I'm posting this in the f series forum but hoping someone can chime in and give a non bias answer.

I dont have a F75. But I have a F70. and a ATPro. My f70 is deeper than my AT. My AT is easier to use. The AT really shines in the water.

Diggers is so fricken fake I can't watch it anymore. Any detector can find cool stuff if it goes over the top of it.

I've got a 75 se (replacement for the first one actually) but don't have the AT pro but did swap with a club member the other day for a while in a trashy park that GBed in the low 90's on the 75.

Let's just say he wanted his unit back a lot sooner than I wanted mine back and leave it at that.

Both machines very decent...

The trouble im having is trying to decide which one hehe seems like the F75SE goes deeper. But the AT pro can go in water in which I enjoy. Wish fisher would water proof the F5 and id be happy with just that lol I realize that any machine will find good stuff. Just wish the F75 was water proof then it would be hands down. I do with the known risk take my f5 out in the water but not that deep. So im still undecided :-(

Maybe someone can list the pros and cons of the machine they know the best or both.

Of course depth is more a factor of soil and the detectors ability to handle it so everyone's region can vary. There's little doubt in my mind the 75 is more sensitive to ground minerals/metals than the AT pro but also to EMI. The rumor is that reducing sensitivity to mitigate the EMI does not reduce depth just the volume of the target so the 75's still accepting deep targets, you just can't hear it  Ergonomically they're both a joy to swing but the AT feels abit more rugged. Considering all things and if I was thinking of spending F75se type money again , I'd buy the AT gold to get the sensitivity and waterproofness and pick up a spare propointer with the same money or less.

However , my understanding is that the AT's are in such demand Garrett can't keep up. Fisher doesn't seem to have the supply/demand problems Garrett has for some reason.

Since this is, or very close to Comparison of detectors. Post has been moved here. Metal Detecting Forum per Findmall rules is the ONLY forum
that allows these comparison topics.

Thank you.

There are some important differences between how they perform depending on what your priority is for your detector.

Now in New England I found the F75 in any version was deeper than the AT Pro and not by just a half inch. On some targets like small silver it was 1-2 inches easy. So...if depth is the top priority than to myself as well as many others the F75 still has a noticeable depth advantage.

However the F75 is one noisy bugger and in some areas the interference I have seen was so bad no matter what I did I had to stop detecting and go to another machine. I can think of 2 spots where it was just so bad it was intolerable.......and I am used to running Teknetics and Fishers wide open and so noise is no problem...but in these spots...geez it was too much. Other machines would run without a peep.

So....EMI is a very real issue with the F75 and is more of an issue for some users than others.

Obviously the AT Pro is waterproof so I will say what I said before on this...if you need a waterproof machine then the AT Pro is top choice. Not so much for salt water but for fresh I would use it as my first choice.

Hiowever if waterproof is just a neat idea that a person likes just because..well then to me...not an advantage. Most modern detectors can handle some rain and have covers available....I don't detect in the rain but I have been caught in downpours and I have not had an F75 leak.

One thing I do not like about the AT Pro is the display is way too small and I can't see the display without my glasses and I do not like wearing readers to detect and I absolutely cannot read the display without them. For many not an issue but again I know half a dozen people I heard who this was an issue.

Now the AT Pro is more stable concerning EMI for sure....so if you have to deal with this then factor that in. Some people hate a twitchy machine....the f75 is twitchy...but you get the depth.

As far as weight and balance....personal preference here but Ithink they are similar...they are ok.

I think as far as menu options and ability to adjust to different conditions...maybe an edge to the f75...it has more useable adjustments for me....but that is again a personal thing.

When it comes to audio....I personally like the F75 better in trashy iron filled sights. The F75 has a faster recovery rate and I like the way it responds from an audio point. I need a fast recover machine and in that area the F75 was just better.

The AT Pro has the iron audio feature and while this a nice feature I found it less usefull in iron trash....oddly enough. More usefull to me for beer caps. But...I rarely hunt areas with beer caps....so for me not as much of a useful feature ...but again for some it is very useful. So again..personal opinion.

However if you hunt parks or areas where steel beer caps are an issue I found the AT Pro had a better audio response to these and made them easier to ID verses the F75 which can have a difficult time giving an audio response that is easier for users to interpret them as a bad target.

Overall both are good machines...depends on what your priorities are from a machine.....if you are water hunting then the At Pro is it right. But if I was hunting colonial relics in a field where stuff is small and deep no way would I choose an AT Pro...the F75 would be one of my top machine choices. I also apply this to celar hole hunting

if you hunt primarily parks and schools and places where you are NOT digging down 10+ inches for stuff AND you will have a mix of modern trash targets then...mmmm..maybe the At Pro would be a good contender.

Azsh07 TY for helping me make up my mind. I ordered the F75se and to get my fix of water hunting I ordered a underwater md from the bogo sale that they are having at www.kellyco.com . So thank you again for all the input and help everyone. Now the big wait till they get here :) HH everyone!!
