Looking deeper/faster...I can afford a high end machine to compliment my current batch of fine detectors...

And I'm also confusing myself so here comes another what should I get post...I'm in the Portland Oregon vicinity=Hot rocks/soil.

I've developed a fairly tried/true hunting method which is whats hampering my decision. I use my detecting for exercise due to a permanent sleep disorder. I has helped immensely. It also has my attitude at I dig it all as I am in this for exercise right?.

I mainly use a Tesoro Silver and a Troy X2-both have a GB added & a selection of coils. I also have some Bounty Hunters for when I need a target ID(end of day & tired). One of my favorites frankly is a little tracker 4 I put in a plexi box for water use. I use a older Tek coil & have reset the GB for my Oregon hot rocks-its an amazing little machine.

I have numerous parks in my area I have worn to nothing. I can hunt in all metal and go silent for minutes without a beep. These are sights that have produced well & I have hit my depth limit. I'm not planning on selling any of my herd to fund this so I'm looking for more of a specialty detector.

The consensus is a FBS machine will give better depth with decent ID if you use it correctly-and I read that as slowly.

I've watched guys using them-checking this that & the other. By the time I'm done "sampling" I could have dug 3 targets using the beep/dig method for shallow targets. But most of those are long gone & also the deeper it is the more a good ID would be help full making the dig/not decision.

I'm leaning towards the T2 SE...But the Bliss looks very tempting & going by the videos I already speak the language. Now to make my decision I searched these forums- my local expert-and he is local & a true expert- Monte-recommends the Omega over the T2.... And then posts saying nothing touches BBS for depth with good ID...Now I'm really confusing myself..But I need to keep in mind I have the shallow stuff well covered.

Deep & fast possibly with target ID in all metal is needed....The all metal needs an auto GB feature as my local soil varies a lot & re-setting the GB often is not time spent detecting. I've tried both & its a huge difference. But the edge of the decision goes to deep-but with an emphasis on low conductors. Silver is nice but gold gets me doing the happy dance.

So any input?

Or put another way-Is the benefit of BBS that big for someone willing to dig it all & do without good VDI info -I see myself frustrated going so slowly with my hunting style/personality. My doggie gets bored enough as it is!

Thanks!
Carl.

Hi Carl looks like you have covered your fast detecting requirements with your current batch of machines.....the troy has a pretty quick target response as do most tesoro machines.Faster machines are usually required for searching very trashy sites where in most cases targets are fairly shallow. The problem is that as targets get deeper all machines start to have increasing difficulty in identifying them correctly......especially good targets that lie close to junk......this is why it is a good idea to emphasize depth for your next detector rarther than speed. No detector on the market has ultra depth with ultra speed and that is why many owners have two so they can cover both types of searching. The choice of detector is a difficult one these days as most detectors have excellent performance.I have owned two of the types you are currently thinking of purchasing which are the t2 and the minelab sovereign which is a bbs machine. Both machines are exceptional detectors and both will give good results. However, after using both detectors extensively i will say that if depth is a main consideration then the sovereign has always given me greater depth over the t2.This machine does have a learning curve and many people give up on them before they get the most out of them, but if you persevere with it you will find that it excels in most situations.

Consider Whites MXT PRO. Auto ground, pretty accurate display, and heavy enough to give you lots of exercise.

For good depth The Minelabs of course, The F75's, the T2's ............. Seperation is a factor too.. F series, tek series, CtX 3030 Good luck on your choice.

Thanks for the input everyone!

The one that keeps coming back to the top is the sovereign ...It has a good selection of coils available . I just worry if I will get along with it..

But I believe thats what I'll go with after all -depth is the key factor.

And I am very happy with my current batch of detectors. They have served me very well & I am confident when I use them. But I can't travel farther due to my condition-at least not easily. And I know there is stuff deeper...

Cheers!
Carl.

Get a used Coinstrike if you want to hunt deep in mineralized soil. It's fast too.
