Looking at getting a second tesoro

I just got the Tejon and got the extra coils 10x12ws and 5.75 concentric. I love the life time warranty. I came across a outlaw with only theses coils 5.75 and 8 in coil used good price. I know they don't share coils with the tejon so if I bought a new 10x12ws for it I'm within a hundred or so of a new outlaw ?? But my thought would be just get a vaquero for a second machine new with warranty and use the same coils. Hummm what to do is it worth the outlaw or just get the vaquero

Assuming it really is a good price, I'd go for the Outlaw and forget buying the 10X12. If you really need the extra depth and/.or coverage, you've already got it in the Tejon with the 10x12. Adding a Vaq new or used solves the coil compatiblilty option so that's a very good option as well.

When you got pretty close to the top of the line with Tejon, you should be able to do just about anything you want with the right coil.

I would think a 5x10WS solid coil would be a good move, it will replace just about all your coils except the 10x12. That is all I run on my Tejon, it is just a better all around coil, as good as the 5.75 getting around in the trash and better ground coverage than the stock 9x8.

id get the vaquero. i have one, now i want a tejon. have both of tesoros top detectors. can switch the coils and understand that the vaq has an edge on the outlaw. ive never used an outlaw, just what ive read. hope no one gets upset with that. people can get way too touchy sometimes. haha

An advantage that I see in going for the Outlaw over the Vaquero is that you already have one machine (Tejon) which operates at about 14 kHz...getting the Vaquero will give you another machine which operates at about 14kHz. Getting an Outlaw will give you a machine which operates at 10 kHz. My view (and it is only my view) is that it is more beneficial to have machines that will do slightly different jobs, rather than two machines that will basically do the same job.

good point there furious. all the models have their differences. like the chibola is not the same as a vaquero only without the manual ground balance. read the compadre can get closer to metal fences and the like than any other models. guess it boils gown to what you actually want from a second detector.

Thank you all for the great advise I ended up with the outlaw the seller ended up sweetening the deal with a 3rd 10 x12 concentic coil so can't wait to get it. Down the road I'll probably get a vaquero but I'm broke for now. Thanks Gerry

the outlaw is a good machine, I miss it

I would have suggested the Deleon at 10 kHz. It's as deep as the Vaquero and sniffs out the silver better than any Tesoro I've owned. You're got the added bonus of the screen if you choose to use it. Of my 13 silver finds this year, the Deleon found 11 of them.

I had the Outlaw and found it to be mediocre compared to the Deleon.

Having said all that, the biggest factor to your success will be learning your machine and finding good locations.

Lightstryder, my error, my most humble apologies to all....I had a Tejon years ago...thought it operated at about 14.6 kHz......but I stand corrected.
