Looking at a Minelab X-Terra 50 or 30

For use in mostley Ca sand dry/semi wet.

I currently have Bounty Hunter Fortune Hunter, paid $130 for it not too bad. I get plenty of false reads, some days worse than others.

I find about a $ every time I go out, great to just relax and hear the ocean.

I have found a nice rythem with detecting and dont want to waste time and or miss stuff.

Any help would be great!

If you are hunting in a variety of sand conditions, I would recommend a detector with adjustable ground balance. The X-30 is fixed at the factory. Whereas the X-50 is manually adjustable. Now, if you really want to track between wet and dry, a detector with tracking mode is the way to go. But between the two you mentioned, the X-50 would be your best choice. In addition to the manual GB, you also have 4 additional coil choices at 18.75 kHz. JMHO HH Randy

Thank you for the info.

I think I will go with the 50, found a video on youtube that went over the use of both the 30 and the 50.

The features that stands out are the ground balance and the noise.

If you're considering a used one, my X-Terra 50 with 2 coils is still waiting for a new home. There's an ESP warranty that's good until Dec. 2009 (good for the original buyer -- I would help if needed).
