Look what I got today from Monte

I got these two detectors in the mail this morning from Monte. I'm pretty excited to have these. I took the bandido this morning to my dads place where I've been digging for nearly a year now. I went straight to a spot where I'd dug two 1910 wheats previously with a micronta discovery 2. I dug a 1918 wheat just as soon as I reached the spot.
I'm waiting on Tesoro to send me the coil for the Aztec and I'll have to fab a battery door for it so I haven't had it on yet, but can't wait to try it too.
I started detecting a year ago and have used a bounty hunter pioneer 505, a tesoro eldorado, a teknetics t2 and a micronta discovery 2 during this past year. I wish I had given the eldorado some more time before selling it.
I was really concerned about losing my tones but I quickly discovered today that this little bandido sings it's own little distinct song over different targets.
Thoughts, comments or suggestions are welcomed.

Anything you get from Monte will be exactly as described ... or better. Congrats on the two "new" detectors. Hope you find many more old treasures with them.

Never used the Aztec but have had a couple of the Bandidos. Nice thing is you can chestmount it so you can wade abit with it. two 9 volts kept the weight down also, wish they did that to the GSII. Nice detector, I think that is one of MOntes favorites if its got the white coil.
Best of luck with it!

- - similar to that one. Mine was the Bandido II. Smooth little beep and dig detectors.

Boy, do those two bring back happy memories! Many enjoyable hours with both of them. Hope they do the same for you. You couldn't have gotten them from a greater guy.

if it only has the brown 8" coil, like this one had. I haven't liked upon a clean, good-working white 8" for a while now, but the unit Mark got is very clean, works perfect, and will reward him for quite some time to come.

Yeah that Monte seems to know the "language of the deal," that's for sure.

I remembered you saying that one time Monte about that white coil. I never got a chance to use one, all the Bandidos I had came with the brown 8" and some other sorted coils but never the white 8". Maybe one day I will get a shot at one and take it.

Nice detectors ya got there just-dig

The Bandido is a good unit, and is really good at picking out the goodies in the old tear-downs where there is lots of rusty old nails in the ground (my favorite places to hunt). I found one just like yours for a friend of mine and he is a newbie at detecting. He just luvs his, he has had it about a year now and already he has found with his Bandido a gold ring, mercury dime, and an indian head penny with his. Of coarse, I am his mentor and have brought him up to speed and he is using techniques that I have taught him that took me years to develope. Good luck with yours.

Your gonna like that Bandido. I bought one when they first came out. Traded it for the Bandido 2. Both were great machines. They'll go deep and find the goodies. Enjoy.

Thanks for the replies. I really am enjoying the bandido. It definitely does the job in nails. I'm picking up things at every site that the other machines missed. I really like the way you can move around slowly with it amongst the trash. I'm having to dig deeper to retrieve targets as well. It's perfect for trashy lots!

First, note that he got an 'original' Bandido. There were four (4) Bandido models. The original Bandido was followed by the Bandido II which basically just added an additional toggle to provide either a fast auto-tune or manual retune. The first two Bandido models featured a knob that protruded through a hold in the back of the control housing (by the battery door) that let you adjust the Threshold trimmer on the circuit board. On the front panel is a variable Discrimination and Sensitivity control, as well as a 10-turn Ground Balance control. ALL Bandido models feature ED-120 Discrimination.

Great looking machines, Mark !

I have not used an Aztec, but I have a Pantera, which resembles that Bandido.. Great detector !

Your new machines are FAR prettier than my own !

Good luck with them, hope you find a huge trove !

Thanks for the replies. I'm having a blast with this bandido. The recovery speed is unbelievable on this machine and I love how you can really move in slow motion with it and pick out the good targets in the trash.
I need a picture of the battery door from an aztec if anyone has one. I'd like a picture, inside and out of the door off the unit. The buttons that lock the door in place are in the same line of the sheet metal that comes down from the top piece. I need to see how they made that part of the sheet metal where the buttons come through the door sides.
