That is neat, it is the same design I have on my old Army dress uniform cap except mine is solid and your's is a cutout. Nice find. BTW, I was in the Army '67-'70. HH John

What you found is an enlisted man's U.S. Air Force insignia worn on the hat. I was in the Air Force from 1961-1965 and have that exact item.

I found some WWII era US Army buttons out in the desert with the same design. HH!

Definately NOT officer's. It's enlisted mens insignia.
